I started CleanRun in 2013 after watching too many homeowners get a low teaser price over the phone and a bill three times higher once the crew was in the attic. Before this, I spent eight years doing commercial HVAC installs across north Georgia, crawling through plenums, the main distribution box that feeds air into your duct runs, in schools and medical buildings where a speck of contamination gets flagged by an inspector. That training left me with a low tolerance for shortcuts. I still ride along on jobs when the schedule allows, usually the ones with older galvanized ductwork or access problems in crawl spaces. I keep a photo on my phone from our first job in Cumming, March 2013, a ranch house off Bethelview Road where the camera showed a 3-inch debris build-up at the first elbow. The customer still calls every two years to schedule. I answer the phone myself some evenings. It’s not a policy; I just like knowing who’s calling.
Marcus T., Lead Technician
Marcus has been with us since 2017 and runs the truck that handles most of our Cumming and south Forsyth County calls. He’s NADCA-certified, which means he’s passed the National Air Duct Cleaners Association exam on proper negative-pressure extraction, the method that pulls debris out under controlled suction rather than blowing it around your house. Marcus specializes in older homes with fiberglass duct board, the rigid insulation-lined panels common in builds from the 1980s and 90s that crumble if you hit them with too much air pressure. He lives in Buford with two kids and a garage full of vintage stereo equipment he repairs on weekends. He’ll talk your ear off about turntable cartridges if you let him, but on the job he’s quiet and methodical. Darnell K., Senior Installer & Duct Repair Specialist
Darnell joined us in 2019 after twelve years doing new construction HVAC for a builder out of Alpharetta. He knows the Forsyth County code requirements for duct sealing and insulation R-values by heart, which matters more than people realize when we’re repairing runs in attics that hit 140 degrees in July. His specialty is hard-to-access repairs, the kind where we have to cut a new access panel in a soffit or work around stored holiday decorations in a tight crawl space. Darnell is the one who taught our apprentice crew how to spot a failed duct tape seal, the cloth-backed adhesive that turns to powder after about five years in Georgia humidity, versus a proper mastic seal that lasts. He keeps a notebook of every house he’s worked on, street address and date, going back to 2019. Says he likes knowing the history. Off the clock, he fishes Lake Lanier from a kayak and refuses to explain why he thinks the stripers bite better on Tuesdays.
Selena R., Service Coordinator
Selena answers the phone when you call (678) 693-5322, schedules your appointment, and makes sure the crew has your job packet, written scope, equipment list, and photo upload credentials before they leave the shop. She’s been with CleanRun since 2021 and came to us from a medical scheduling office, which explains her tolerance for complexity and her zero-tolerance for missed details. Selena is the one who confirms your written price before the truck rolls, verifies that your photo record link is active, and follows up two days after every job to ask if anything felt off. She knows most of our repeat customers by voice. She lives in Cumming proper, near the Collection, and has strong opinions about which local coffee shops have drive-thrus that won’t make her late for the 7:30 AM crew dispatch.
Javi M., Apprentice Technician
Javi started with us in 2024 after completing the HVAC program at Lanier Technical College. He’s working toward his NADCA certification and currently shadows Marcus on standard cleanings while handling dryer vent runs and register, the visible grille where air enters your room, removals on his own. Javi grew up in a house with a chronically clogged return duct, the large vent that pulls air back to your system for reconditioning, so he actually understands from the customer side why this work matters. He’s the one who asks the questions the rest of us stopped asking, like whether that new smart thermostat is reading correctly or if the temperature swing is actually a duct balance issue. He drives a ten-year-old Civic that he swears will outlast the work van. So far, he’s not wrong.
